Eyecare Plus Ashgrove first to introduce Eye Hero

We are proud to announce that Eyecare Plus Ashgrove is now the first Australian Optometry Practice to integrate Eye Hero advanced digital vision training software in our practice!

Eye Hero is an amazing tool for vision therapy, delivering personalised home vision training tools through digital interactive games. It is an entirely portable software program that can be used in session with your vision therapist, at home, or on the go! All that is required is access to a laptop or tablet, and the Eye Hero red-green glasses and you are ready to engage with targeted digital exercises designed to gradually improve your binocular vision.

A human’s visual system is undoubtedly complex, with numerous moving parts that work together to enable us to function confidently in our daily lives. If just one part of the visual system is malfunctioning, such as with amblyopia, there is a loss of efficiency and a compromise on how well day-to-day tasks are performed. The Eye Hero Vision Training system breaks down vision into the following core skills:

• Fixation stability,
• Eye-hand coordination,
• Accommodation (focussing ability),
• Binocular vergence control,
• Stereopsis (depth perception),
• Visual attention and processing speed.

This enables the Eye Hero program to target specific areas for development.

Once Eye Hero is prescribed by one of our qualified behavioural optometrists, the Eye Hero software guides the user through an onboarding assessment followed by daily vision training exercises. The program uses dichoptic* stimulation (using red-green glasses) and training adapts dynamically based on performance, ensuring games remain appropriately challenging and targeted for the individual.

How does Eye Hero achieve all of this? Through the unique power of digital play!

Each of the fun interactive games challenges the user to perform a blend of the core skills mentioned above. By actively engaging in these virtual sessions for only 30 minutes per day, players enhance their ability to control their gaze, track objects accurately and coordinate eye-hand movements effectively.
